The song “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?” has been covered many times since Yip Harburg and Jay Gorney published it in 1931. It has a classic universal tune that is quite haunting (I end up humming it a lot and driving the people around me slowly even more crazy). The topic of the song is also often one that many people can relate to as well. Right now, many of my friends are looking for work or cutting costs because paychecks don’t go quite as far as they used to go.

I just added a new free pattern to Connie Gee’s Designs that was inspired by this song. It’s simple, but as you stitch it, think of those who don’t have a job. If you are looking for work, stitch it as you visualize getting a job!

Slowly but Surely

When I toyed with the idea of starting my own design line, I never knew it would take me so long to get it up and running! I have, however, decided to take my time and do it “right” – I want to stitch all my own models and I am learning needlepoint so I can incorporate canvas-work into my repertoire. I still don’t have much to show, but I promise I am working on things. Before you know it, I will be posting about my first designs being available!

Until then, keep stitching!
