Here it is, my first official pattern!

Quilts have been an important part of my life from the beginning.  Both of my grandmothers quilted and my Grandfather Leon even helped stitch once the quilt was in the frame.  This quilt motif showcases a nine-patch square and includes some of my favorite colors.  Even though ecru merely refers to unbleached fabrics and flosses, it always sounded so exotic to me.  And, the antique blues of the DMC 930 family are perfectly paired with dusty roses.  My prom dress my senior year was dusty rose and while I gleaned few spectacular memories from that night, dusty rose has remained a favorite color nonetheless.

I am excited to be started on the adventure of building Connie Gee’s Designs.  Many of my designs will be inspired by traditional quilt blocks, but I also love geometric designs of other types AND I hope to collaborate with other artists to create unique adaptations of their work into stitchy masterpieces.

I hope you enjoy following along on my journey and that you enjoy my little Comfy Quilt Cross Stitch Chart.

  1. That is a really nifty pattern Connie. I can see many a Grandmother’s quilt in it.

    • Thanks Becky! I spent many an hour watching my Grandmother Garmon cut and piece quilt tops, then quilt them. She even managed to make polyester quilts look good! My personal history with quilting coupled with my interest in the history of quilts in America is what makes them such a favorite subject for me. And, it’s also because I am not very adept at making actual quilts!

  2. Oh this is so cute, and I have an idea on whom to stitich it for!
